Some museums have specific resources or can offer facilities for certain activities. Contact them directly if you have questions about accessibility.
The Sewer Museum is located at Porte d’Anderlecht in Brussels. The museum takes visitors on a tour of an authentic sewer still in use, explaining its history, the work of the people who maintain it and the water cycle.
EXPO This unusual museum lets you walk along the River Senne and lets you discover a real sewer from up close. What lies behind a sewer or water distribution pipe? Where does waste water come from and where does it go? The standing guides will prepare you to explore this underground world. They’ll be on hand in the museum galleries to give you the keys to understanding the themes covered, devoted to sewers and water management in the city.
EXPO Come and discover a natural phenomenon that’s very familiar to Belgians: rain! How much water do the clouds pour down when it rains? Where do the drops that fall from the sky come from, and where do they go when they hit the ground? Don’t you think the answers are obvious? Fun, interactive displays will help you to find out. In Brussels, rainwater all too often ends up in the sewers, even though it is such a precious resource.
EXPO The finalists of the ‘Shooting in the Rain’ photo competition are exhibiting their work. Discover their photos of the capital in the rain in Brussels’ wettest and most underground gallery: the main sewer of the Bergensesteenweg. Original snapshots, from an unexpected or poetic angle.
WORKSHOP Gather around an augmented reality sandbox and model the landscape together, making rain and sunshine. Find out how the rain flows across the landscape and which areas need to be protected from flooding.
